Number Twelve menu

Let me introduce you to Number Twelve, a relaxed cafe-style spot tucked right into the heart of Helmsley at 12 Castlegate, York YO62 5AB, United Kingdom, where locals drift in for an easy coffee break and visitors quickly feel like regulars. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere feels friendly and unforced, with the kind of laid-back energy that makes you want to linger, chat, and maybe order just one more thing. I often describe Number Twelve as the place you go when you want good food without the fuss, because it balances comfort with quality in a way that feels natural rather than staged. The menu leans toward crowd-pleasing small plates and quick bites, which makes it ideal whether you’re popping in between errands or settling down for a longer dine-in visit. Coffee is a clear favorite here, but there’s also a solid range of beer, wine, spirits, and other alcohol options, so it works just as well for a casual afternoon catch-up as it does for an early evening wind-down. If you’re someone who looks for lighter or more mindful choices, you’ll appreciate the healthy options alongside satisfying vegetarian dishes that don’t feel like an afterthought. On warmer days, outdoor seating adds another layer of charm, letting you soak up the village atmosphere while enjoying your meal. Service is flexible and modern too, with dine-in, delivery, and easygoing hospitality that keeps everything running smoothly. What really stands out to me is how effortlessly Number Twelve fits into daily life in Helmsley, acting as a welcoming cafe where good flavors, friendly service, and a relaxed setting naturally come together. I also like how the space feels approachable for solo visitors and groups alike, making it easy to stop by spontaneously. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite, sipping coffee outdoors, or sharing small plates with friends, the experience stays consistent and comfortable.
